Carla can't access Blogger from Beijing (yet) but they're in China and SAFE! From Carla:
We made it here around 3:45pm Beijing time, which made for roughly 45 hours of travel time. We won. We have the longest "to China" flight than anyone else. Working on the blog post, but talk about obstacles. You would NOT have been wanting to travel with us yesterday. Or Thursday...or whenever the heck it was.
We did get upgraded, we were going to pay the $109 each, but when she heard our story, she did it for free. There were PLENTY of seats available on that Beijing flight, hoping for the same on the way home so we can upgrade to Economy Plus again. We managed to sleep some, in fact, on the LAX to San Fran flight we were both asleep before we left the gate. First sleep in 28 hours at that point. The $17 neck pillows were worth it. More than worth it.
Slept quite a bit on the Beijing flight, arrived quite alert and caught up with the group for dinner. We're skipping the church service in the morning and one of the guides is taking us to Tienanmen Square and Forbidden City. Then we'll catch up with the group at lunch, and then go to the Great Wall.
THANKS for the good thoughts everyone!!!! We're HERE, it's beautiful and HUGE and one big game of chicken on the roads. Glad I'm not driving.

Carla -
I'm so glad to hear that you are there and safe. My heart has been aching for you everytime I read a new update on your blog. We (the AWAA SN Yahoo group) have been praying for you. Hopefully, you got all your glitches over with and now it will be smooth sailing. Have a great Family Day when you meet Katie. Can't wait to see pictures!
